Ceasefire, Not Forgetting War Crimes: Criticizing Injustice and Condemning War and Warmongering

Dear scholars, researchers, scientists, and esteemed professors of the all universities around the world,

Not long ago, in days when war had cast its shadow over the ancient land of Iran, I spoke with you. Today, a ceasefire is in place, but this fragile silence, rather than heralding peace, reminds us of a deep wound on the body of a nation and a great civilization.

During the harsh days of war, the people of Iran once again proved that, beyond any differences, they stand united and steadfast in defending their homeland. This courage and solidarity are rooted in a history that has repeatedly shown how an aware nation rises against the pressure and threats of outsiders. Our people have shown that resistance against aggression is not merely a choice but a part of their national identity. Through their bravery and unity, they have created a model of dignity and resilience. No excuse can weaken our commitment to defending truth, justice, and our country. History has once again proven that the awareness and courage of the Iranian people have always triumphed over arrogance, injustice, and warmongering, just as it has been throughout the past millennia.

Nevertheless, one cannot overlook the bitter toll of civilian casualties and the destruction of infrastructures. These crimes, without any justification, are a clear violation of humanitarian principles and international law. The approach of certain politicians in the United States and the Israeli regime has always been accompanied by arrogance, distortion of reality, and disregard for human suffering. They not only take no steps toward global peace, but their warmongering further fuels mistrust and tension. This war was launched under the pretext of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, while Iran has never sought to build an atomic bomb. This fact shows that the imposition of such wars is rooted in prejudice, misunderstanding, and the warmongering of foolish politicians.

For us, the ceasefire must be an opportunity for reflection, not an excuse to forget the crimes. We must always remember that human lives, the dignity of nations, and infrastructures should never be sacrificed for ambition, arrogance, and misguided decisions. Silence in the face of these realities means ignoring the truth. It is our perpetual duty to raise our voices against warmongering and war crimes, and to defend the truth.

Today, the world needs the voice of awakened consciences more than ever. As academics and scientists, we have a responsibility beyond the production of knowledge. Our duty is to stand with the truth, defend justice, and safeguard human values. Science that is not in the service of humanity has lost its way. Only through raising awareness and courage can science become a force for lasting peace and justice.
