Head of the Center for Regional Studies for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage: Nomads are one of the Neglected Capacities on the Silk Road
A joint meeting between officials from Semnan University and the head of the Center for Regional Studies on the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in West and Central Asia was held in conjunction with the International Silk Road event.
According to Semnan University Public Relations, Dr. Atosa Momeni, referring to Semnan University's activities in the field of international students and the activities of the Faculty of Tourism at this university, said in this meeting: "This space and this capacity can be used to develop tourism and the Silk Road."
Dr. Momeni, pointing out that new and innovative measures must be taken in the Silk Road area, added: "Nomads on the Silk Road are a new and fresh issue that Semnan can lead in this matter."
The head of the Regional Studies Center for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in West and Central Asia, stating that nomads are a part of society, added: "The origin of nomadism and nomadic life is in Iran, and since last year, the issue of empowering nomad women based on current intangible needs has been raised with some countries as a project approved by the Board of Governors, and 20 countries will present their experiences on this issue in the next 20 days."
Dr. Momeni said: "The women of the Sangsar tribe are empowered women in the nomadic field, and the production of 35 types of dairy products by the nomadic women of this region is proof of this claim."
She stated: "This capacity of the Sangsar tribe has a lot of potential in the international Silk Road event."
Dr. Seyfolah Saedodin, President of Semnan University, also introduced the university's various departments at this meeting and said That Nomads and nomadism are an important issue that academics can help address with their technical knowledge.
He listed the Faculty of Tourism and the Faculty of Desert Studies as unique capacities of Semnan University and expressed hope that this capacity could be useful and effective in the specialized meetings of the international Silk Road event.
The president of Semnan University listed the desert as another potential of Semnan province and noted: The presence of international students as well as tourism students is a unique opportunity to export scientific findings.
