Semnan University Continues Presence Among World’s Top Universities in THE 2027 Rankings
The President of Semnan University announced the university’s placement in the 1001–1200 global ranking bracket of the 2027 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. He attributed this achievement to the collective efforts and synergy of the faculty, researchers, students, and staff in advancing academic quality and enhancing the university’s international standing.
SEMNAN, Iran – Dr. Masoud Nasiri Zarandi, President of Semnan University, announced that the university has successfully maintained its position in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, securing a placement within the 1001–1200 global bracket.
Dr. Masoud Nasiri Zarandi highlighted that this achievement comes at a time when THE rankings undergo rigorous assessment based on a comprehensive set of metrics, including teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. He emphasized that the university’s consistent performance is a testament to the collective synergy and dedication of the academic community across various disciplines.
“The THE rankings provide a vital benchmark for evaluating higher education institutions through five key pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook,” Dr. Masoud Nasiri Zarandi stated. “These results offer a strategic roadmap, identifying both our institutional strengths and areas for future enhancement in the global academic landscape.”
Regarding the detailed performance, the President reported the following scores for 2027:
- Teaching: 31.3
- Research Environment: 20.4
- Research Quality: 50.9
- Industry: 54.7
- International Outlook: 44.1
A comparative analysis with the 2026 results reveals significant upward trends. Notably, Semnan University saw substantial improvements in four out of five key indicators: Teaching rose from 27.2 to 31.3; Research Environment increased from 17.3 to 20.4; Industry engagement grew from 48.6 to 54.7; and the International Outlook saw a remarkable leap from 31.9 to 44.1. While Research Quality experienced a slight adjustment from 52.2 to 50.9, the overall trajectory remains positive.
“The significant growth in our International Outlook and Industry engagement underscores our increasing capacity for global scientific collaboration and effective industrial partnerships,” the President remarked.
Addressing the university’s subject-specific achievements, Dr. Masoud Nasiri Zarandi noted that in the 2026 THE Subject Rankings, Semnan University ranked within the 601–800 band for Engineering and the 801–1000 band for Physical Sciences.
Concluding his remarks, the President expressed his gratitude to the faculty, researchers, students, and staff.
